Let’s talk about something that makes many people cringe…
Nope, not tithing. 😅
Credit.
We don’t always like to talk about it, but credit is often the mirror reflecting our financial past—and sometimes our pain. For many, it’s a score that carries shame, regret, or just plain confusion. But here’s the good news:
God is not just in the business of redeeming souls—He’s in the business of redeeming stories.
Even your credit story. 📖
As stewards, we are called to manage well, not just spiritually but practically. And in today’s world, that includes how we engage with credit. Whether you're teaching others or working through your own testimony, this post is for you.
Let’s explore The 3 “R”s of Credit and how they parallel godly stewardship:
1️⃣ Repair – Acknowledge & Adjust
Before you can repair your credit, you have to face it. That might mean pulling your report (gulp), admitting where things went sideways, and dealing with accounts that need attention.
Likewise, in stewardship, there is no freedom without truth. We can't manage what we won't confront.
✝️ Biblical parallel: In 2 Kings 22, King Josiah finds the forgotten Book of the Law and responds with repentance and reform. Repair begins with honest discovery.
🔍 Stewardship Insight:
Teach others to look at their financial past without fear or shame. We don't serve a God of condemnation—but a God of correction, grace, and growth.
2️⃣ Rebuild – Establish a New Foundation
After the damage is acknowledged, it's time to lay new groundwork. That might include on-time payments, secured cards, and budgeting.
In the spiritual sense, rebuilding looks like new habits, disciplines, and accountability. You don’t just stop the bleeding—you start the healing.
🏗️ Biblical parallel: Nehemiah didn’t just mourn the broken walls of Jerusalem—he got the people organized and rebuilt it.
🛠️ Stewardship Insight:
Encourage others to be proactive. Rebuilding takes community and consistency—two things every church and leader should model.
3️⃣ Restore – Reflect the Glory
Restoration is when credit begins to reflect stability. It’s the visible sign that something new has taken root.
But here's the twist: True restoration isn’t just about getting a higher score—it’s about being trusted with more.
🌿 Biblical parallel: After Job’s long season of loss, the Lord didn’t just return what was taken—He gave back double.
💡 Stewardship Insight:
Restoration in credit—and in life—isn’t just about what’s returned. It’s about being a more faithful, wiser steward on the other side.
🙋♂️ Why Should Christian Leaders Care?
Because money is spiritual.
Because people in your community are quietly struggling.
Because you can’t disciple someone fully without touching their financial worldview. 💬
Credit repair isn't just a financial task—it’s a discipleship opportunity.
The process of Repair, Rebuild, and Restore is a living parable of how God works in all areas of our lives.
And if you’re a Christian influencer, pastor, or steward—this is your moment to lead the conversation. To remove shame. To replace silence with wisdom. To make stewardship practical and personal.
